My first Bounty and counting
I've been trying to build up my public profile as a developer. My GitHub history doesn't really show what I can do yet, so I'm working on that. Not looking for a full-time job right now, more into side hustles or co-founding something.
One thing I enjoy about bounties is reading other people's codebases. Every repo has its own way of doing things, and you pick up a lot just by digging in.
I heard about Algora about a year ago but never tried it. Then I found a bounty on the Coolify repo and went for it. The community was really helpful.
Some bounties I've done so far:
- Coolify - Feature: Rocket.Chat Template
- Coolify - Feature: Jitsi Meet Template - This was particularly challenging because Jitsi required a unique network setup to match Coolify's dockerized network.
- Maybe - Build Compound Interest Calculator - This project was built using my favorite stack, Rails and Hotwire. It seems that this project was created entirely through bounties, which was an eye-opening experience for me. I was not aware of Maybe OSS either.
I'm going to keep doing bounties. Turns out you can actually make decent side income from them, and you get to work on real projects. Might try Upwork too at some point.
